Amanda Elston

Amanda Elston (She/Her)

MA Candidate, BA, Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)
Counsellor's Gender: Woman
Ethno-Racial Identity: Indigenous, White
Amanda’s approach involves building self-compassion, enhancing the mind-body connection, building emotional intelligence and self-awareness, and openly communicating with others. Amanda believes that as a society, these are skills that are not often taught, which causes barriers in interpersonal relationships and the ability to self-regulate. She creates a safe space for her clients to feel welcomed and accepted as their authentic selves. Her approach to therapy encompasses not only getting to know the client on a deeper level, but the client getting to know themselves. Amanda has experience working with Indigenous populations, and being Metis herself, she incorporates traditional knowledge and practices into her approach when desired by the client. Her cultural background emerges in sessions through the belief of the strength and wisdom every client carries within them. Instead of viewing clients as their areas of concern, she remains curious about their stories to aid individuals in finding their desired path to move forward. Amanda prioritizes the importance of the therapist client relationship while engaging in a compassionate and strength-based approach.
