I, Cayo Whyte, am a Registered Master of Social Work (MSW) professional and a PhD candidate at York University, specializing in providing compassionate, client-centered counseling to individuals and families. With over a decade of experience in social work, I have supported clients in diverse settings, including community-based agencies, private practice, and Indigenous services. My approach is rooted in evidence-based practices, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness techniques, and trauma-informed care. I integrate these methods with culturally sensitive strategies, ensuring that my clients receive support tailored to their unique needs and lived experiences. In my practice, I have worked with clients navigating challenges such as: - Relationship dynamics and family transitions - Anxiety, depression, and self-esteem issues - Managing life changes and building resilience - Addressing past trauma and promoting healing I am particularly passionate about serving BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities, offering a safe and inclusive space where individuals can explore their personal growth, develop coping strategies, and thrive in their unique journeys. My academic background enhances my counselling practice. As a PhD candidate, I explore the intersection of social work and spiritual well-being, recognizing the importance of holistic approaches in supporting clients from diverse cultural backgrounds. When not working directly with clients, I dedicate my time to educating future social workers as a course instructor and field supervisor. I bring years of teaching experience, particularly in Social Work Communication Skills, equipping students with the tools they need to succeed in their careers. If you are looking for a compassionate, skilled, and culturally sensitive counselor to help you navigate life’s challenges, I would be honored to walk with you on your journey toward wellness.
