Cherie Mak (Hoi Yee) (She/Her)
Hi, I’m Cherie. Life’s challenges can feel isolating, whether you’re navigating stress, family expectations, or relationship struggles, but you don’t have to carry them alone. I’m a registered social worker with over 10 years of experience supporting children, youth, and young adults through transitions in school, work, and personal life. My approach is based on empathy, collaboration, and non-judgment, creating a safe space for you to share your story and explore new ways forward. I believe in your unique strengths, and together we’ll uncover them while developing practical tools to build clarity, resilience, and confidence. I draw on Narrative Therapy, Person-Centred Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy to help you reframe unhelpful patterns and connect with what matters most to you.
My passion for mental health started through my work in schools and non-profits in Hong Kong, where I saw how cultural expectations and intergenerational pressures shape identity and relationships. Today, I continue that journey in Toronto, working in both post-secondary and private practice settings. Whether you’re dealing with anxiety, intergenerational conflict, or major life changes, I aim to support you with strategies and insights that respect your experience. I see therapy as more than “fixing” problems — it’s about understanding yourself more deeply, strengthening relationships, and reclaiming your story.
It takes courage to seek support, and I’d be honoured to walk alongside you. If you’re ready, I invite you to contact me for a free consultation to see if we are a good fit.
