Janis is a master’s-level practicum student currently engaged in practical training under the supervision of Dr. Taslim while pursuing her Master of Psychology at Adler Graduate Professional School. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree with a specialization in Political Science from the University of Toronto. Before transitioning into psychological practice, Janis worked as a public policy advisor, where she provided guidance and managed programs in the areas of gender-based violence and human trafficking, social services, early years education and Indigenous issues at the federal and provincial level. At Silm Centre for Mental Health, Janis provides psychotherapy to adolescents and adults. She takes an integrative approach, utilizing a trauma-informed and culturally sensitive lens to address a wide range of mental health challenges. Her therapeutic practice is grounded in evidence-based modalities, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Brief-Solution Focused Therapy (SFT), and Internal Family Systems (IFS). Janis values the importance of a strong therapeutic alliance with her clients and is dedicated to helping them recognize their inherent strengths, empowering them to achieve their own vision of a healthy and fulfilling life.
