Joe Seymond is a compassionate and dedicated Registered Psychotherapist. He has thirty years of experience in the addiction and mental health field. His passion lies in empowering individuals to overcome challenges and rediscover hope. He prepares individuals with addictions to break the chains of depression, addiction, and mental health stigma. He has been employed at shelters, withdrawal management centers, and treatment centers in his journey. Joe Seymond is an Algonquin First Nations Anishinabe Elder, he practices his roots of smudging and respects the sacred medicines, and he also practices his Christian roots. Joe believes in a strong therapeutic bond between the therapist and client and creates a safe and nurturing environment. Joe has obtained a Human Services Counselling diploma from George Brown College as well as a BA and a master’s degree in Pastoral Studies from Emmanuele College. Currently he is studying to become a pastor and is in excellent standing with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario as an Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying). His journey started on October 23, 1990, when he was freed of alcoholism through a 12-step program. As an Indigenous male, Joe has a huge knowledge of heritage and traditional teachings. Joe's journey in the counselling field started in April 1994 and he says it all started at a Native Men's Shelter where he was employed for 9 years.
