Hi there! Thank you for taking that first step to finding support – I know from experience it isn’t always easy! To get to know me a bit, I am a Registered Social Worker with the OCSWSSW and supporting people through life’s ups and downs is my passion. I received my Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) from Renison University College attached to UWaterloo, and I also have my Masters of Social from the University of Toronto. I specialize in working with children and families, emphasizing the importance of child development, as well as family system interventions. Coming from a clinical background of working with families in the foster care system and government-funded programs, I know that families can look like everything and anything! I utilize aspects from a series of therapeutic modalities and theories including Solution-Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Play Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy, Attachment Theory among others; but my main focus is you and your needs. I believe therapy shouldn’t use a cookie-cutter approach – one size definitely does not fit all when it comes to your emotional and mental well-being. We are all so different and we all need a listening ear sometimes, and a little extra support other times. I am the kind of social worker that wants to work with you to develop emotional regulation skills, coping strategies, and stress-management methods that you can keep in your back pocket. My goal is to help you feel capable of pushing through personal challenges years down the line. As the old proverb goes, teach a man to fish and he eats for a lifetime – that is the same mentality I use when working with any of my clients. I offer my clinical support coming from Trauma-Informed, Strengths-Based, and Anti-Oppressive approaches – for the young to young at heart, we all could benefit from someone to talk to! All are welcome and safe to be who they are here at Piece of Mind Counselling, and I’ll be right there with you along this journey you’re about to take. Je pouvais aussi vous-aidez en Francais si c’est plus accessible pour vous!
