Beginning a therapeutic journey can sometimes feel unsettling. As a former client myself, I understand this can be a difficult step to take. I’m hoping that what I am about to share can make this process a little bit easier for you. First of all, welcome! Taking this initial step in seeking therapy is one of the hardest parts, but here you are! You are not alone in this journey. Therapy is a collaborative approach where we will work together to support your individual goals. I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with CRPO. I earned my Bachelor of Arts Honours Psychology Degree from York University and my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology Degree from Yorkville University. During our sessions together, I will help you understand your emotions and how they are experienced. The complexity of our emotions often creates feelings of dysregulation if we are unaware of how they present themselves. Emotions play a major role in how we perceive our life experiences, and also ourselves. We can explore this together to build more awareness of what is happening between the mind and body as they are connected. As a bi-racial individual, I understand some of the challenges that multi-race populations experience due to the pressures, assumptions and biases that are often presented within society, creating confusion and discomfort surrounding your identity. I can provide a safe space to discuss such concerns. I have experience supporting both adolescent and adult populations struggling with anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, general life stressors, academic issues, self-harm and suicidal ideation. I have also supported individuals struggling with interpersonal relationships such as difficulty with friendships and family. I utilize a person-centered approach, in addition to integrating various modalities to support individual needs, as one size does not fit all. Modalities include integrated components from Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Narrative Therapy. I have completed additional EFT training: Emotion-Focused Therapy Institute-Level One Training from York University. I offer a warm and comforting approach, as I strive to create and maintain a safe space for clients to share their most vulnerable moments.
