Sonia is an empathetic and dedicated Registered Social Worker with over 20 years experience in mental health and addictions. Sonia has specialized training in Comprehensive Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and DBT Prolonged Exposure Therapy. Other training includes Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Brief Solution Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy and Motivational Interviewing. In Collaboration with clients, Sonia identifies and utilizes different modalities to develop flexible and individualized treatment plans to build on their strengths, resiliency, and improve their overall well being. Sonia has training in Indigenous Cultural Sensitivity and Allyship and has work experience helping the Indigenous population. As a visible minority, Sonia understands the complexities of cultural diversity and seeking support for one's mental health. This understanding allows Sonia to identify cultural barriers and offer validation, support and resolutions. Sonia is a member in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW).
