Tammy is a compassionate, empathic and open-minded person. Tammy is of Mi’kmaq and Irish ancestry. Born and raised in downtown Toronto, having the privilege to further understand her people’s culture and traditions as well as learning of Ojibway people’s culture and traditions, I have built strong cultural relationships within my urban Indigenous community of Toronto that I have worked in for over 20 years. I have a BA in Sociology, Aboriginal studies, and a Bachelor of Social Work Indigenous Field degree with First Nations Technical Institute and my Master of Social Work Indigenous Field degree at Wilfrid Laurier University in partnership with FNTI. Through these programs, I have gained Indigenous holistic knowledge and skills which I will utilize as a clinical practitioner. I have various cultural training such as Indigenous trauma informed training, CBT training level 1, as well as various shared cultural knowledge. I pride myself in having a holistic two-eyed seeing approach. It is this cultural lens I work with, bringing a genuine, honest and truthful approach to my work. Ensuring I lead with good intentions, a good mind and a strong, empathetic spirit. My guiding moral compass is directed by the Seven Grandfather Teachings, which ensures I follow all ethical protocols as a holistic practitioner.
